Opelousas—A Mass of Christian Burial for Lennett Fitzgerald will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Fr. Semien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lennett was a resident of Lafayette. He passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes, at the age of 85. He enjoyed dancing to Cajun and French music, outdoors with family and friends. He served in the Army during Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 64 years Mrs. Theresa Marks Fitzgerald of Lafayette, sons, Eddie Fitzgerald and wife, Shelly of Patterson, LA., Ronald Fitzgerald and significant other Layla Smith of Lake Charles, daughters, Diane Fontenot and husband, David of Lafayette, and Phyllis Yates and husband, Kirwin of Lafayette, brother, Clinton Fitzgerald of Leonville, sister, Virginia Lanclos of Opelousas, seven grandchildren, Scott Fontenot, Kimberly Harman, Abby Paradee, Ryan Fitzgerald, Meredith Bonneval, Brandi Fitzgerald and Charles Fitzgerald,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Virginia Fitzgerald, sisters, Isabella Bergeron, Inez Castille, Estelle Robin, Beula Deville, Noami Greco, Denize Castille, brothers, William, Alex, Ernest, Frank Fitzgerald.

Pallbearers will be Scott Fontenot, Greg Harman, Glen Paradee, Ryan Fitzgerald, Patrick Bonneval and Charles Fitzgerald.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, November 27, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Friday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
Donation can be made to family to support the Alzheimer’s Associations.
