SUICIDE VERDICT
Enterprise Bank Affairs Not Entered Into by Coroner at Clark Inquest—Many Witnesses Knew Nothing

Without entering upon the affairs of the Enterprise National Bank, or permitting questions appertaining thereto to be asked, Coroner Joseph G. Armstrong conducted an official inquiry into the death of T. Lee Clark this morning at 11 o'clock, the verdict being that the cashier had come to his death by a gunshot wound inflicted by his own hand.
Mrs. Clark was not present, but a deposition was read from her. Bank Examiner J.B. Cunningham, President Wilson A. Shaw, of the Bank of Pittsburg, through which the Enterprise Bank cleared; the attending physicians and all the directors of the bank were called, but aside from the testimony of the physicians and Mrs. Clark's deposition, no evidence was adduced touching upon the manner in which Clark met his death.

Pittsburgh--The following statement of T. Lee Clark, cashier of the Enterprise National bank of Allegheny, written a few hours before he committed suicide, was made public to-night.

"Dearest Wife and Children--In ten hours or less I will be in the other world. You have been a dear, good wife to me. Andrews has worked my ruin. Dear wife, keep all the insurance for yourself and babies. How hard it is to leave you all. I have made a desperate effort to keep things going until I would get the road financed, but it has been too slow. The examiner is here, and I am ruined. Do forgive me; it is not my fault. I have been shamefully robbed. The bank will get everything but the life insurance. Your husband, "LEE"

Clark committed suicide the morning of October 18th, and the above statement, written in pencil on one of the bank's letter heads, was found in the dead man's home by his fourteen-year-old daughter and turned over to his attorney. The railway was capitalized at $2,500,000 and is bonded to the extent of $2,500,000. Of this $2,000,000 of bonds have been issued, while $500,000 have been kept in the treasury for betterments.
