Ranger - J.B. "Shorty" Houghton Sr., a retired auto mechanic died yesterday in an Irving nursing home. He was 90.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church of Ranger, where he was a member. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.
Mr. Houghton was born in Tyler in Smith County. He began working as a mechanic in 1918. He opened a garage in Ranger in the early 1930s and retired in 1971.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Houghton of Mineral Wells, J.B. Houghton Jr. of Irving and James A. Houghton of Houston; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
