James A. "Jim" McWilliams, 72 of Independence, MO, passed away March 28, 2006, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Jim was born on July 18, 1933, to Harold and Elsie (Wilson) McWilliams in Beacon, IA and had lived in the Independence area most of his life.
He had been a foreman at Missouri Portland Cement Co., retiring in 1996.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved riding Goldwing Motorcycles and being active in the Goldwing Motorcycle Club in Independence. Jim also loved Bluegrass music and played the guitar with his friends.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men's Group.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Davis.
He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Mary F. McWilliams of Independence, MO; a son, Jim McWilliams and wife, Debbie, of Raytown, MO; a daughter, Sherry Denham and husband, David E., of Arvada, CO; two brothers, Gene McWilliams of Grand Island, NE, and Jerry McWilliams of Louisburg, KS; two sisters, Judy Auldridge of Berryton, KS, and Bonnie Turpen of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be April 1, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence.
