Mary was born September 11, 1950, in Chicago, the daughter of James and Esther Relinski Poe. Esther died when Mary was 1 year old. Mary came to live with her Aunt and Uncle, Rose P. and Howard F Lieber, in Dixon, and they became her mother and father.
Mary was a graduate of Mary Crest College with her Paralegal Degree. She served as director of Whiteside County CASA in the 1990's.
Mary married Greg Bontz February 14, 1996, in Sterling.
Survivors include her husband; children; Tobin (Lisa) Chaney of Moline, Brian (Dee Albrecht) Chaney of Davenport; 2 step-sons Greg (Sonrisa) Bontz of Rock Falls, Eric (Stacey) Bontz of Rock Falls; 6 grandchildren Paige, Kiersten, Connor, Stella, Elise, and Heather; 1 sister Nancy (Larry) Hoyle of Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Patricia Laskowski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday December 6, 2014, at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling with the Rev. Bruce Ludeke, officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be held on Friday December 5, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with the Rosary recited at 7:00 PM in the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
A memorial has been established to St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in Sterling.
Mary's family would like to thank the cardiologists and medical staff at KSB Hospital in Dixon for their care and devotion.
