Mr. Barnes was born to Woodrow and Verta (McFarland) Barnes on October 3, 1943 in Louisiana. He was an auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Fred Martin, whom he loved and called his son.
Survivors include his companion Virgie Martin of George West, and her 5 children; siblings Ella Faye Brown, Sharron Barnes, Kenneth Barnes, Ronnie Barnes all of Louisiana and Jimmy Barnes of Arizona; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.
Funeral Service was held Monday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of George West.
Burial followed at the George West Cemetery.
