Della was born Sept. 1, 1916 at Ravenna, NE, the daughter of James and Emma (Burch) Holder. After graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1935, she worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. She also had worked at
Schweizers, J.M. McDonalds, Kaufmans, and Williamsons as a retail sales clerk.
On Dec. 28, 1938, she married Charles Hoops at Janesville, WI. They owned and operated Hoops Livestock Co. in Wisconsin, Missouri, and South Dakota. After moving back to Grand Island they operated the Star Liquor from 1972 to 1976. Her last employment was at Bag & Save as a Food Demonstrator.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She also had been a member of the Eastern Star and the Platte Duetsche Society.
Della is survived by her husband, Charles Hoops of Grand Island and daughter, Rosemary (Mrs. Gerald) Miller of Grand Island.
She is also survived by grandsons Brent (and wife Laurie) Miller of Silver Dale, WA, and Brad Miller of Giltner, NE, and granddaughter Ciji (Mrs. Jarvis) Shields of Tampa, FL, and great-grandchildren Austin Miller, Christian Miller, Jordan Shields, and Jarvis Shields, Jr.
Della was preceded in death by daughter Charlene Hoops, brothers Carl, Earl, and George Holder, sisters Letha Baker and Arlene Wilson.
