ST. JOSEPH -- Waunita L. Burton, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Brett Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery in Union Mills, Ind. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church in Stevensville. Mrs. Burton was born Dec. 9, 1913, in Nancy, Ky., to James and Mary (McClendon) Barlow. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry David Allen, in 1980; her second husband, Lilburn Burton in 2000; her son, Bobby Allen, Sr., in 1957; and by four brothers and seven sisters.
Mrs. Burton is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Hunt of St. Joseph, Carolyn (Charles) Dyer of Crescent City, Calif., Marilyn "Kelly" Fain of Cutten, Calif.; her son, Bobby (Esther) Allen Jr. of El Reno, Okla.; stepdaughter, Helen Lytle of Batavia, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Jim (Jean) Barlow of Andrew, NC.
