Mrs. Brauer's Rites Planned Here Tuesday
Rev. Caradine R. Hooten will conduct services at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Street & Draper funeral home for Mrs. George H. Brauer, widow of one of the founders of the Oklahoma Railway Co., who died Saturday in Ponca City. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Brauer made her home here at 323 NE 14. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer S. Anderson, in Ponca City.
She was born in Cordova, Minn., Feb. 13, 1872 and came to Oklahoma in 1889, making her home with her brother on his homestead near Edmond. She was a member of the first class at old Central State Normal school.
She was Former Teacher
She made the run into the Cherokee strip in 1893, and settled at Perry where she was a teacher in the schools.
In 1898 she married the late George H. Brauer of Edmond. The couple moved to Oklahoma City in 1901. He was instrumental in organization of the Oklahoma Railway Co., and served as its secretary-treasurer for 11 years. He also assisted in the founding of the Classen Co. in 1902 and was for 12 years its vice-president and treasurer. He died in 1929.
Survivors Are Listed
Mrs. Brauer was a member of Chapter E of PEO, the Twentieth Century club, and the ‘89ers. She was a member of First Methodist church and had been active in church work.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Curtis, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. J. L. Curtis, Claremore; and a brother, Peter N. Henderson, Nerstrand, Minn.
