Michael S. Maddux, age 89, of Newport, MI passed away Sunday morning December 7, 2014 in his home, surrounded by his family.
Michael was born February 26, 1925 in Bluffton, Indiana to Franklin and Elsie (Rothgeb) Maddux. He married the love of his life Martha "Marge" J. Dines on February 1, 1947; sadly she preceded him in death on May 9, 2006. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.
Michael worked as a serviceman for Detroit Edison for 33 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member and volunteer of Calvary United Methodist Church Monroe for many years and a member of Frenchtown Senior Citizens. Michael served as a 4-H leader, helped the kids in the Beach areas to stay off the streets, he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, reading, string art and most of all he enjoyed his family. Michael is survived by his son, Michael G. (Susan) Maddux; son in law, Rande Dietrich; siblings, Herman "Smokey" Maddux, Earl and Albert "Butch" Maddux and Charlotte Bean; grandchildren, Kimberly (Scott) Robinson, Tabetha (Eric) Strohschein, Rhonda (John) Dietrich-LaFeve, Tod (Carissa) Maddux and Craig (Nicole) Maddux; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, daughter Alice Marie Dietrich January 8, 1997, siblings; John Maddux, Alice Campbell, Colleen Meade and Harriett Corl.
