Obituary:
Lawrence A. Beard, 75, of Cumru Twp., passed away December 6, 2014 in Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of (Living) Henry. His first wife Antoinette (Sartori) Beard passed away in 1994.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George A. and Edith M. (Weitzel) Beard.

Lawrence served in the US Marine Corp during peacetime. He worked in the loading dock for Branch Motor Express for 18 years and last worked for Berks Construction as a construction worker retiring in 2001.
Lawrence pitched softball for South End Social Club in the early sixties, and then managed them to three city titles in the late seventies. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and always liked drinking beer with his buddies.
In 1958, he and a buddy took an almost year trip, one of those barns as you go. They covered about 20 states and wound up in Magnolia, Texas where they worked on a ranch for about 3 months.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children, two grandchildren, sisters, two special friends.

Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
