Miss Martha Lillian Addis, who owned and operated the Addis Jewelry and Gift Store at 929 Kansas for many years, died at her home, 630 California Ave., following a six week illness.
Miss Addis was born in Ellis, Kan., February 24, 1878. A resident of Topeka for more than fifty years, she was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Aldrich W. R. C. No. 17, and the Women’s Club. She was one of the boosters for a bigger and better Topeka, and gave much time to civic activities. Her jewelry store on Kansas Avenue was a sort of gathering place for the various clubs and committees with which she worked.
Survivors included three nieces, Mrs. Charlene Flott and Mrs. Hazel Brayman, Topeka, and Mrs. Mildred Moore, Lamar, Mo.; two nephews, W. A. Lewis and Robert Addis, Topeka.
