Worthy Matron Dies At OES Installation

Mrs. Norma Townsley, 52, of 5430 N. Lake Rd., Clark Lake, was stricken with a fatal heart attack Wednesday while conducting an initiation of Napoleon Chapter No. 328, Order of the Eastern Star, in the Napoleon Temple.

Mrs. Townsley, worthy matron of the chapter, had been under the care of a physician for heart trouble and had visted him only two days earlier.

The Napoleon Fire Department rescue squad was called, but attempts to revive her failed. She was pronounced dead by Coroner Edward Montgomery, then removed to the Worthington Funderal Home at Brooklyn.

Mrs. Townsley, who was married to Ellis Townsley about a year ago, was Norma Johnson prior to then. She had spent her life in the Napoleon-Clark Lake area and was employed in the meat department of the Kroger store in Brooklyn.

Besides her husband she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Rushton of Napoleon; two daughters, Mrs. Leah Green of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Lillian Choate of Paulding, Ohio; a son, George Silveus of Jackson; a sister, Sylba (mis-spelled in obit, should be Silva) Watkins of Napoleon, and 11 grandchildren.
