Gary Lee “Buster” Peters, 65, of Hiltons, Virginia, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center (Kingsport, TN).
Mr. Peters was born August 23, 1947, in Kingsport, TN. He was the son of the late Arthur Lee Peters and Helen Geneva Warf Peters.
Mr. Peters proudly served his country in the United States Army.
During his lifetime, he worked as a cook and, also, in painting. Buster loved to do any and all kinds of work, such as mowing and landscaping.
Mr. Peters was a born again Christian and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Ferry; special uncle and aunt, Ruby and Stuart Snodgrass; grandparents, Dow and Nan Peters, and Wayne and Mary Warf; and a sister, Peggy Haynes.
Survivors of Gary Lee “Buster” Peters include his wife, Mary Lou Peters; daughter, Sherry King; stepson, Robby Berry and wife Crystal and unborn grandchild, Caleb Lee; sisters, Linda Price and husband Mack, Jean Collins, Donna Simpson, Kimberly Burkey, and Selena Williams; brothers, Bill Peters and wife Pam, and Johnny Peters and wife Barbara; step-brother, Danny Barrett; and special cousins, Carol and Jack Mullins, Harold and Marie Snodgrass, and Gerald and Phyllis Snodgrass.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home (Weber City, VA). Friends and neighbors may also visit anytime at Mr. Peters’ residence and also at the residence of Linda and Mack Price (Yuma, VA).
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. Harold Shoemaker will officiate.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Mountain Home, TN). Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #3 / #265. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to the service start time. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and hospice staff at Indian Path Medical Center for their loving care and support of Buster and his family during his time there.
