Name: Daniel Nathaniel Bretz
Born: 1843
The son of Simon S. & Mary (Garverich) Bretz, in 1860 he was a laborer and boatman living in Middletown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in Middletown August 6, 1862, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 12 as a private with Co. H, 127th Pennsylvania Infantry. His death date is subject to debate. While the cemetery list claims he died December 31, 1862, the company register of the 127th Pennsylvania Infantry says he died "in quarters" April 6, 1863. The cemetery list also claims he was re-interred from Ireland's Farm, Stafford County, Virginia, which perhaps was true in either case.
