Bert Malmin was one of six children born to John P. and Minnie Kittleson Malmin in the Edmore, North Dakota area. There were two older half-siblings - Alma and Palmer Malmin in the family. She attended high school in Edmore and moved on to teacher's college but had to drop out due to financial reasons. She and her closest sister, Evelyn, became hair dressers in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Bert married Edward (Ed) F. Moore, Jr. and five children were born to that union - Mary, Patricia (Patti), Thomas (Tom), Michael (Mike) and Melissa. They also leave behind seven grandchildren - Fred and David Zapalac, Thomas and John Bagby and Elizabeth, Michael and Rachael Pena. Great grand children include Liliana and Christina Pena, Audrey Marie and Benjamin Bagby, Daniel Holden Zapalac and James (Jamie) Vincent.

The Moore family left North Dakota in 1950 for better opportunities in Houston, Texas - and there they remained.

I am Bert's second daughter - we were always very close and had a wonderful relationship up until her death. She was a loving mother who always knew how to make even the dullest things fun. She is sorely missed.
