The memorial service for Harry Harlan Montague will be at noon Monday in Ascension Lutheran Church, Medford. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Montague, 81, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 5, 1997) of cancer.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 2617 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504, or a favorite charity.

He was born Oct. 12, 1915, near Minnewaukan, ND. He was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown College.

He joined the Farm Security Administration in June 1939 in Langdon, ND, starting his career in civil service.

In 1941, in Edmore, ND, he married Evelyn A. Malmin, who survives. They moved to Medford in 1981 from Omaha, Neb.

He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1972. During WWII he served with the US Army in France and Belgium.

Mr. Montague was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer for four years. He had a rose garden and enjoyed daily walks.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, H. John Montague, Portland and a daughter, Helen Jo Montague, Salem.
