Jack Norman Sowder, 59,
retired assistant Fayetteville
postmaster, died Saturday in a
local hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1913, in Fort Smith,
the son of Anthony and Eva Goldsborough
Sowder, he was a veteran of
World War II and a Baptist.
He joined the Post Office in
March of 1937 and except for
service during World War II,
remained until his retirement in
September of 1968. He was
appointed assistant postmaster
in January of 1964 and held that
post at the time of his retirement.
He was a member of the Fayetteville
Civil Service commission.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs.
Edna C. Sowder of the home:
one son, Norman Glen of
Seattle. Wash.; one sister, Mrs.
Alma Dodd of Logansport, La.;
one brother, Tony R. of
Spokane, Wash. and three
grandchildren.
