Leonard Berntsen was born July 23, 1916, to Francis W. "Frank" and Anastasia (Wilczek) Berntsen in Okarche, OK.

He graduated from Loyal, OK., High School.

Leonard married Augusta Kuehn Nov. 20, 1940, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

He was a barber in Loyal, OK., for several years and farmed in the Omega and Loyal area, then moving to Kingfisher, OK., where he worked as a carpenter, painter and handyman.

A resident of Kingfisher he died at the age of 98, Nov. 6, 2014 at the Cimarron Nursing Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Bengs, and Judy Brown and husband Loren; one sister, Clara Meyer; one brother, Harold Berntsen and wife June; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Augusta; one brother, Glen Berntsen; two sisters, Frances Vail and Helena Varulle.

Funeral services were Nov. 8, 2914 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with burial in Kingfisher Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
