L D Owen, 92, of Russellville, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. He was born November 21, 1922, in Dodd City, Arkansas, to Robert Dale and Lennie Mae Stackhouse Owen. He was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was the founder and first Executive Director of the Arkansas State Employees Association. During his tenure he developed the ASEA van pool service and the SEBCO benefits program still in use today. In April of 2014, ASEA dedicated their Little Rock headquarters to L D and renamed it the "L.D. Owen" building. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Colleen Owen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lindsey and Jackie Owen and Phillip and Ellen Owen all of Carrollton, Texas; one daughter, Elizabeth Owen of Russellville; and five grandchildren, Brent Owen, Katie Owen, Landon Owen, Greg Owen, and Parker Owen.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, officiated by Rev. Roy Smith and Rev. Gail Brooks. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m., until service time.

The family would like to thank Debbie Hudson, George Richardson, the staff at Legacy Heights Nursing and the River Valley Hospice for their care.

Honorary pallbearers are George Richardson and The Carden Sunday School Class.
