Surviving are two children Debbie Cornett and husband Larry, Tim Hines and wife Patty, three grandsons Wesley Cornett and wife Jennifer, Nathan Hines, Matt Hines and wife Megan, three great-grandsons Evan and Colton Hines and Weston Cornett. Also surviving are two brothers, Gary and Delbert Hines and one sister Winnie (Hines) Bryan.
Vernon was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Army Signal Core in North Africa. After serving his country, he returned home and committed his life to farming, family, and his community as a Beaver Township Trustee for 51 continuous years. He also served as a committeeman for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) and a board member of the Beaver Union Cemetery.
Preceding him in death are siblings Viola, Esther, Margaret, Ruth, Jim, Maxine, Frank, and Harold.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 16, 2014 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio. Pastor Dennis Bell will be officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Union Cemetery with a military graveside service provided by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8:00 P.M. on Monday December 15, 2014.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the National Church Residences Home & Community Service Hospice, 681 E. Third St., Waverly, Ohio 45690.
