Mavis Layne McBride Trubell, 87, of Corsicana, passed away on December 14, 2014, in Houston. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, in Resthaven Memorial Park, Corsicana.

Mavis Layne was born in New Boston, Texas, to the late Otto Young McBride and Nora Jewell (Alexander) McBride. She moved to Corsicana as a young child with her family. Mavis worked in Dallas and Houston and retired from the U.S. Secret Service. She lived in Houston and Pearland with her husband, O.R. Trubell. Mavis and O.R. enjoyed many years of dancing and traveling together. She was widowed for many years before marrying John Houghtaling, living in Pearland until his death.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, O. R.; and second husband, John; and her brother, Glendon McBride.

Mavis is survived by her step-son, Joe Houghtaling and his wife, Debbie; step-daughter, Nan Tatum and her husband, Steve; brothers, Weyman McBride and his wife, Lorene, and Lawrence McBride and his wife, Marie, all of Corsicana; nephew, Tracy McBride, of Corsicana; cousins, Faye Naylor and Ruby.
