Adolph was raised at Sheridan, South Dakota where his father was a farmer. He was the son of German immigrant parents, Michael Lippa and Mary Manekheim Lippa. He married to Willa Mae Grant Dayton after 1932. Adolph and Willa had no children. They relocated to Florida where in 1953, Adolph was a barber at Vaughn’s Barber Shop at Fort Lauderdale, while at the same time, he and his wife were proprietors of Lippa’s Apartments at Hollywood, Florida.
