Alonzo Hampton Cox was born on March 17, 1849 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, the son of Benjamin Cox and Irene (Watkins) Cox.
He was married about 1874 to Louisa A "Lula" Harrison (1855-1942), the daughter of Richard Payne Harrison and Mary (Woodward) Harrison.
A merchant living at 4711 Elkins Avenue, Nashville, he was 65 years old and married when he died at home of chronic Brights disease on November 16, 1914. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery.
