Mrs. Howton died April 18, 2006, at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas.
She was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Era to Lee and Era Dove Mosley McKinney.
Along with her husband, Joe Howton, she owned and operated the Era Cotton Gin for many years. She was al so a former school teacher and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, moving here in 1979.
Survivors include her sister, Lois Knight of Arlington; eight nieces and 10 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Howton; son, Jerry Allen Howton; three sisters; and four brothers.
