Charles "Ace" Lukasiewicz, 87, of Mattydale, died Wednesday at his home with his family at his side. He was a life resident of Mattydale and was the last surviving of 10 children born to the late Francis and Valeria Lukasiewicz. Charles was a 1945 graduate from Smith Tech. in Syracuse and then immediately joined the military. Ace was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the European Theater and was a life member of the American Legion post #1832 in Mattydale. He retired in 1987 as an Engineer/Model Maker for the Carrier Corp. and also worked prior for 20 years with the General Electric Co. in Syracuse. Charles was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church and was a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizens and a member of the Syracuse Polish Home. He also was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Helen Nadolski; three children, Janice (Larry) Hansen of Leesburg FL, Robert (Susan) Lukasiewicz of Cicero, Chris Lukasiewicz of Mattydale; four grandchildren, Shane, Kyle, Colin, Campbell, Kelsey Begley; two great-grandchildren, Noah, Lucas and was expecting his third in February. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church. Burial with full military honors will be in Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
