Robert M. Reno, 83, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., also known as Bob Reno, passed away peacefully November 14, 2014, at War Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born January 2, 1931 in Raco, Mich. of Superior Township, to Morris Reno and Mae (Fair) Reno. Bob served in the US Navy from 1948-1950 working with airplanes and helicopters.

Bob then made his career as a professional painter with the Allied Painters Trade. A member of Local 1418 - Sault Ste. Marie and retiring from the Painters Local 1662, Traverse City, Mich. He had painted on the Mackinac Bridge, International Bridge, Edison Power Plant, Chippewa County Court House, schools and so many others. Also a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Bob had a love for the outdoors. Spending time hunting, fishing, family picnics and gathering. If it was outside, that's where he would be. He will always be remembered for his annual hobo dinner and unique smoked whitefish and salmon. Most of all, Bob truly had a big heart and was a man of his word....ruff...tough....and true. No one ever had to guess how he felt....you just knew! His expressions, unmistakable laugh and sky blue eyes said it all.

Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Reno, in 2012, and siblings Dolores, Lois, Donald, Arnold, Butch and Katherine. He is survived by his children: Robert (Darlene) Reno, Jerry (Edie) Reno, Kathy Reno and Tammy (Pat Fishell) Henning all of Sault Ste. Marie; 13 grandchildren: Jami Reno, Kara Reno, Julie (John) Thomason, Jody (Brandon) Bond, Jenny (Jason) Walter, Pat TenEyck, Kori (Adam) Dawson, Daniel "Dan-O" (Katie Garlinghouse) Henning, Alyssa Fishell, Shawna (Matt) Manhart, John Rich, Marghie (Clint) Artus, and a special granddaughter: Ana Murphy; and fifteen great, grandchildren: Jade TenEyck, Morgan Reno, Miranda Reno, Cannon Thomason, Kalia and Lily Bond, Brock and Lincoln Walter, Baylor Ella Dawson, Kathryn, Julia, Natalie and Collette Manhart, and Rayna and Kali Artus. He was also survived by a sister: Sandra Daley of Washington, and sister-in-laws: Joyce Sterling of Goetzville; Lucy Hank of Sault Ste. Marie; Kay Reno of California, and Trish Michau of Wisconsin and many beautiful nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive family and friends for a celebration of life on Saturday November 22, 2014 at the Culture Building (Niigaanagizhik) 11 Ice Circle Drive, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Traditional service will begin at 11 with luncheon to follow. Memorials may be left to Soo Fishing Pond, Soo Area Sportsman Club, P.O. Box 497, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783 for the stocking of trout for the young anglers each season. Bob spent many hours watching the youngsters land one. He will be sadly missed.
