JOHN ALBERT SHUDICK, JR. Lake Station, Indiana Not lost to memory; Not lost to our hearts! Age 88, was born in Gary, Indiana October 4, 1917. Our beloved father and grandfather passed into glory and joined his loving family in heaven on April 19, 2006. John was a dedicated retired U.S. Steel engineer for 36 years. He was an avid amateur radio enthusiast known as "W9ANJ". He received his radio license in 1941 together with his deeply loved brother, Paul George Shudick, who was killed serving in World War II. John's deep affection for his brother Paul remained with him all through his life. He also loved flying model airplanes, that he himself built. He also enjoyed being outside in his yard working in his vegetable garden. One of the things he loved to do most was going fly fishing with his sons and grandsons. He was a brilliant mechanic, the original Mr. Fix-it! He could analyze and build or repair anything better than it was originally! John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Lucille Shudick; his son, Johnny Albert Shudick, Jr.; grandson, Jason Christopher Crawford; brother, Paul George Shudick; and sisters, Sophia O'Connor and Agnes Shudick. John is lovingly survived by his granddaughter Stephanie Krinakis. Stephanie was her grandfather's caregiver for the past 3 years. It was because of Stephanie's love and devotion to John that he was able to remain in the home he loved for nearly 50 years. John is also survived by: his daughter, Christine (Robert) Crawford; son, Paul (Jan) Shudick; daughter, Ruth (Ralph) Sisco; son, Robert (Sharon) Shudick; daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Lamb; grandchildren: Rob (Nancy) Crawford, Jeremy Crawford, Matt and Andrew Sisco; brother, Joe (Betty) Shudick; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was such a blessing and amazing strong tower for his family his entire life. He was always ready to help when anyone was in need. He was more than generous, truly unselfish and loved by everyone who met him. John was a pleasure to the Lord. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006, Directly at St. Francis Xavier Church, with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Visitation will be at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.
