Sikeston M0- James Colbert, age 91, died at St. Frances Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on December 20, 2014.

Born June 15, 1923 in Goddard Kansas to the late Joseph and Ella Inness Colbert he was a Navy Veteran during World War II, custodian and school bus driver at Thomas W. Kelly High School for over 30 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church Blodgett where he served as deacon for many years.

On August 22, 1949 at Walnut Ridge Arksnasas, he married Melba Collins Colbert who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Ricky Colbert of Sikeston, and James Edward Colbert of Old Monroe Mo. Two daughters Sylvia Collier of Foley, Mo., Rita Lecrone of St. Peters Mo. One Brother Henry Colbert of Tenn., two sisters Juanita Nelms of Jonesboro Ark., Katherine Hess of Dexter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Seven brothers and sisters, one daughter Brenda Colbert, one grandson Bradley Colbert.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec., 22, from 5 to 8 at Ponder Funeral Home where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. With the Rev. Allen Nichols, pastor of First Baptist Church, Blodgett, and Rev. Jerry Hart a General Baptist minister officiating.

Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with full Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Max Collier, Tom Collier, Michael Lecrone, Shawn Colbert, Chris Brown and Dustin Masterson. Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Scudder.
