Mickey Bishop (nee Schwartz) was born May 31, 1922 on a farm in Howells, Nebraska. Mickey never met a challenge she could not beat. She persevered through the Depression, Dust Bowl, and the childhood death of her two beloved sisters, Lillian and Aletha. Educating herself to become an RN, she served as an Army Nurse close to combat in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, she pursued an exciting career as a hostess for TWA. She married her devoted husband, Dr. George Robert Bishop, in 1951; they raised three sons in North Hollywood. When George became ill, Mickey returned to nursing, as Director of Nurses at several convalescent hospitals in Pasaadena. At the same time, she supported all three of her sons through college and graduate school. After retiring in her '70s, she served her church, St. Paul's Lutheran in North Hollywood. Mickey's memory is cherished by her sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Nancy, James and Peggy, and George and Ann Bishop, grandchildren Carolyn, Christopher, Matthew, Alice, Charlotte and Ryan, and brothers Norris, Allen and Milton Schwartz. Husband George died in 1977.
