World War II Veteran of Butler Stricken Suddenly
A 29-year-old veteran of World war II, Robert Leo Ewing of Butler, died suddenly about 11 p.m. Wednesday when he was stricken with a heart attack.
His death was unexpected. The young man had complained of not feeling well for the greater part of the day Wednesday but had retired after telling his wife he planned to go fishing Thursday. He died in bed a few minutes after he was stricken. A Butler physician, hurriedly summoned by the veteran's wife, reported the young man died before he reached the home.
He was a truck driver by occupation, self-employed in general hauling.
The body was removed to the Johnson funeral home in Butler, where final rites were conducted at 1:30 p. m. Saturday. Calvin Murphy, pastor of the Butler Church of Christ, officiated. Burial followed in Butler cemetery.
Mr. Ewing was born May 2, 1920 in Antwerp, O., the son of the late Albert and Laura Ewing. He married the former Alice Krontz of Butler March 5, 1941 at Defiance, O. The couple resided in Fort Wayne and after Mr. Ewing's discharge from service, moved to Butler where they have resided for the past five years. Their home was at 319 West Walnut street.
