The family migrated to Mansfield, Richland, Ohio in 1837. They traveled on the Arkwright from Scotland to NY then proceeded to Richland County, Ohio. Margaret lived with the Alexander & Permelia (Chalk) Buchan family after her father died. She worked as both a school teacher and a store clerk. She is buried in the Buchan family plot.
