Ruth was born on October 5, 1913 to John and Wilhelmina (Stelzig) Beranek in La Crosse, WI.

During WWI the family moved to Haugen, at the age of 5, where her parents worked the family farm. The family moved to Barron, when she was 7, where her father ran the monument shop. Then in 1925 moved to Rhinelander, when she was 12, where her father built and opened the monument works across the street from the cemetery.

She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1931. With honors, she then attended Oneida County Normal School and received her teaching certificate. Ruth taught school in one room school houses in town of Sugar Camp and the town of Pelican, WI. She taught school until after WWII.

Ruth married her first husband, Thomas Johnson, in 1934. Thomas passed away in 1959. She worked at Oneida County Abstract from 1946 to 1961.

She married Peter Abrahamson in 1961 and they moved to Cloquet, MN where she was a homemaker. Peter passed away in 1981. Ruth moved to Sun City, AZ, for several years, and then moved to Glenview in Shell Lake in 2008 to be near family.

She enjoyed singing in the church choirs, hunting, fishing, spending time at the cabin on Crane Lake, MN, trips to Hawaii, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
