NORMA JUNE ASHBY HOOD of El Lago, Texas passed away at home on December 21, 2014 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Ratcliff, Houston County, Texas on November 21,1930 to Frank Ashby and Eunice Barclay Ashby.
Known all her life as June, she was born in a family of medical doctors, and moved to Houston in 1942. After graduating from Sam Houston High School in Houston, she enrolled in Southwestern Business School and began a business career after graduating. She was working for Texaco in downtown Houston when she met her future husband, David G. Hood, at Broadway Baptist Church one Sunday night in September 1952. They were married in that church on January 1, 1954 by pastor Dr. Al Novak in the presence of both families and friends.
