Donald E. Colvill, 63, died August 22 at Howard Community Hospital, Kokomo, Indiana. He was the son of Earl S. and Missouri (James) Colvill.

Don graduated from Anderson High School in 1949 and from Purdue University in 1953 with a degree in electrical engineering. While a student at Purdue, he was a member of the Triangle and Tau Beta Phi Engineering Honorary fraternities. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict as a first lieutenant in the Signal Corps.

He was employed by General Motors Corporation for 38 years; first at Delco Remy in Anderson and was later transferred to General Motors France, where he worked for nine years. He then went to Delco Electronics in Kokomo in 1976. He retired in 1991 as Director of Product and Process Assurance.

Don was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Kokomo Symphony Board of Directors, Kokomo Country Club and Society of Automotive Engineers. While living in France, he served as treasurer of the American Church in Paris. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Donna (Spangler) Colvill, whom he married August 13, 1955, in Anderson; his parents Earl S. and Missouri (James) Colvill of Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey K. and Karen S. Colvill of Columbus, Indiana; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry C. and Gary S. Beale of Atlanta, Georgia, and Laura and Rob J. Andrews of Ravensthorp, England. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Steve and Jenny Colvill of Columbus, Indiana; Brendan, Scott and Holly Beale of Atlanta, Georgia; and Rachel, Tom, and Mary Jeannette Andrews all of Ravensthorpe, England. In addition, he is survived by two sisters Nancy (Ronald) Treesh of Anderson and Linda (Lowell) Rice of Claremont, California and a sister-in-law, Leona H. Colvill of Anderson.

A brother, Ronald Colvill, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 am Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor James D. Davidson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 pm Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm today at Fenn-Shirley Mortuary, France Colonial Chapel, Kokomo, and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
