Ann Frost McCool, a resident of Walnut Creek, died in Walnut Creek. She was 79.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Exeter Cemetery, with Pastor Don Boles officiating.

Mrs. McCool was born in Porterville. After graduating from Bakersfield High School, she attended U.C. Berkeley and Long Beach State University. During World War II, she was a welding inspector at the Kaiser shipyard in Richmond and sold war bonds for the U.S. Navy in Long Beach.

She taught at schools in Farmersville, Lindsay and Exeter before retiring as a resource specialist for the Farmersville School District in 1988. She was active in politics and was president of the Tulare County Democratic Central Committee and a member of the State Democratic Committee.

Survivors include a son, Luke Bachan III of Pleasanton; a daughter, Peggy Gould of Visalia; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren "Bill" McCool, in 1996; and a son, Jack Bachan in 1982.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Chapel.
