WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) _ Fire swept through a mobile home early Wednesday, killing the brother of singer Bobby Vee and the man's young son, police said.

The bodies of Ron Velline, believed to be in his 40s, and his son Ronald, about 9, were found in the burned-out shell of their mobile home by police Capt. David Bruckner.

The elder Velline's brother, Bobby Velline, otherwise known as Bobby Vee, is a singing teen idol of the early 1960s who now lives in St. Cloud, Minn.

Bruckner said he was on his way to work when he discovered the blaze at the Brookwood Mobile Home Park.

''I opened the door and yelled in but I didn't hear anything,'' Bruckner said. ''The flames and smoke were too much. I couldn't see anything.''

The cause of the fire was under investigation, but police said the possibility of arson was being investivated because Velline had filed reports of break-ins at his trailer in recent weeks.
