Spencer, 78, passed away at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Born to Spencer Covert Jr. and Ida Nelson Covert, he grew up in Ammon, graduated from Bonneville High School, and attended Utah State and Idaho State Universities. He married Ellen Bodily August, 25, 1955, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Survivors included their four children, Brian (Tammy) Covert of Lewisville, ID; Carrie (Mike) Smith of Idaho Falls; Jeff Covert of Idaho Falls; and Wade (Annette) Covert of Provo, UT; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Preceding were his parents, sister Patsy Grover, brothers John Covert and Terry Covert, and parents-in-law Verl and Lola Bodily. He worked as a machinist and welder at Leonard’s Metal Works in Rigby and at First Street Welding in Idaho Falls. He was good at working with his hands and very careful measuring. He also did custodial work at Hillcrest High School in his later years. He enjoyed tutoring students at Hillcrest who needed help with their reading and was nominated for “Eight Who Make a Difference.” Spencer requested that there be no funeral. Family requested memorial donations to Hillcrest High School English Department in lieu of flowers.
