"BLUFFTON QUADRUPLET, 75, IS TAKEN BY DEATH. With the death of Horace G. Murray, 75, in Bluffton Wednesday evening, two of the quadruplets born three quarters of a century ago to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Murray, remain. || Murray, a former deputy recorder for Lima under Glen Wallace, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at his residence, 158 N. Jackson St, Bluffton. Death was attributed to a heart ailment, following an illness of four months. || Friends said that the man had been listening to a radio program while he was sitting in a chair and as he got out of the chair and walked towards a table, preparing to eat, he collapsed. || He was the second of the quadruplets to die, one dying in infancy. The other two, M.M. Murray and W. Medlow Murray, both reside in Bluffton. M.M. Murray is a former Bluffton postmaster and the latter was a prominent business man in that village before his retirement. || The only three of the four survived, it is believed that the Murray quadruplets established a record in reaching the age of 75. || Seventy-one years ago, when the boys were four years old, they attracted the attention of the great circus man, P.T. Barnum. Barnum, boasting of being the possessor of the wonders of the world, heard of the quadruplets and he looked them up in Bluffton. The circus man had not known that one of the four had died shortly after birth. || However, the parents and the three of the remaining four were guests of Barnum when his circus played in Lima. They were given the freedom of the big top. || The quadruplets were born Jan. 28, 1868 in Bluffton and the three who lived resided in this area all of their lives. || Horace was married in 1903 to the former Clara Atmur, who survives. Besides his wife and M.M. and W.M. Murray, he is survived by two children, Aaron B. of Washington Court House, O, Mrs. Edwin Badertscher of Bluffton; four grandchildren; another brother, Lloyd of Bluffton, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Tripplehorn of Bluffton. || A retired interior decorator, Horace was a veteran of the Spanish American War, being a member of Co. C of Lima in that conflict. || Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the late home in Bluffton with Rev. Ernest Bigelow, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Bluffton. || Graveside rites will be in charge of the American Legion. The body will be removed from the Paul Diller funeral home in Bluffton to the late residence Thursday evening."
