T.C. SKAGGS IS VICTIM OF SPINAL MENINGITIS
Thomas C. Skaggs died this morning at 1:20 o'clock at the City Hospital following a brief illness, culminating in meningitis. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence on Highland Avenue conducted by his pastor, Rev. M. L. Gillespie, assisted by Rev. M. N. Ragland and will be strictly private by order of the Board of Health.
Pallbears will be as follows: Active. C.O. Hansard, Jas. Mcllroy, Mack McRoy, Chas. Healy, C.C. Yarington and Frank Barr; Honorary - Chas Mcllroy, W. P. McNair, Allen Wilson, Bob Drain, L. R. Stone, Frank Ellis, Arthur Easton, Thomas Shore, James Pipps and Dr. A. I. Moore.
Mr. Skaggs was born at Huntsville, Ark June 14, 1862. In 1892 he was married to Miss Annie Norris of Fort Smith and the couple resided in Eureka, Cal until Mrs. Skaggs death in 1894. One child, a daughter Cuba, was born to this union.
In 1897 Mr. Skaggs was married to Miss Cora Routh of Huntsville and to them two children, Norris and Gaston were born.
All three children, together with his wife, survive the deceased, and besides his immediate family he leaves one brother, Freeman Skaggs of Huntsville and four sisters, Mrs. Adair and Mrs. Heflin of St. Louis; Mrs. Sanders of Depew, Oklahoma and Mrs. Hudson or Rogers.
Mr. Skaggs was engaged in the drug business in Huntsville until 1904 when he moved to Fayetteville and established Skaggs' Drug Store at this place. This business he sold in 1915 to Mr. Burk. At the time of his death, Mr. Skaggs was proprietor of the Frisco Drug Store just recently purchased.
