Catherine Allen was born at Frankford, N. J., February 20, 1848, oldest daughter of Lovatus and Sarah Allen. She came to Michigan at the age of three years and lived on a farm one mile west of Milan until her marriage to Franklin Butler, February 20, 1868, then on an adjoining farm until the death of her husband, Jan. 31 st, 1917, and since then with her daughter, Mrs. A. F. Horton and Fred, of Milan, William and Cassius, of Detroit, one daughter, Gertrude, having passed to the Great Beyond in 1882.
Nine grandchildren, six sisters, Mrs. Laura Alderman, Mrs. Louise Alderman, of Los Angeloes, Cal, Mrs. Mary Forsythe, Miss Alice Allen, Miss Ida Allen, of Ann Arbor; Mrs. Adelaide Salesbury, of Copemish, Mich., and one brother, W. Fitch Allen, of Oldsmar, Florida, are also left to mourn her departure.
She united with the Presbyterian church many years ago and has lived a faithful Christian life ever alert, to be of service whenever and wherever possible. She was a kind and loving mother and her influence for doing right made an impression that …

The funeral of Mrs. Franklin Butler was held from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. . Horton on Thursday afternoon, May 4 th, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Butler, Mr. Cassius Butler, Mr. Wilson D. Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll A. Butler, Miss Katherine Butler, Miss Anna Delaforce,j Mrs. Ida Richmond, all of Detroit; Miss Alice Allen, Mr. And Mrs. J. D. Forsythe, Miss Lulu Allen Mr. and Mrs. L. Forsythe, Mr. and Mrs. Fitch Forsythe, Mrs. Paul Wagner, Mrs. J. Henry Smith, all of Ann Arbor. Mrs. Fayette Harris, of Wayne, Mr. Russell Harrison, of Toledo Mr. and Mrs. Frank Butler, of Northville. Funeral services were conductedby Rev. T. B. Leithof the Peoples church of Milan and burial took place in Marble Park Cemetery.
