He served in the Civil War with the Ninth Regiment VT infantry, Company D. Enlisted 6/18/1862; mustered in 7/9/1862; he was captured by the enemy at Harpers Ferry, VA, 9/15/1862; he was appointed Corporal 1/28/1865.From Sept. through Dec. 1863 we was a patient at Chesepeake Hospital, Ft Monroe, VA. It appears he was transferred north as he was a patient at the US Army Hospital in Brattleboro, VT from Jan through Oct. 1864. He returned to his regiment until his discharge in June 1865.
He married Sarah Jane Weston on June 25, 1867 and they had 2 children (Carrie M and Ama Ann) She may have died in childbirth. Indications are that Carrie M and Ama Ann were brought up by their grandparents and Aunt Caroline.
On Sept 5, 1872 he married Marie Jeanne (Good) and they had 5 children. They moved from Harrisville to Athol, MA and then to the North Shore Of MA.
Family history says that Andrew is buried in the middle of his wives.
