David Lee Brinkley, 74, of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Hubbard Hospice House. He was born in Bloomingrose, WV. He attended Charleston schools and Morris Harvey College. He retired from Union Carbide after 42 years of service in the Engineering Department. After retirement David's passion was his two granddaughters and his love of art, which led him to his enjoyment of drawing caricatures. David was known statewide for all his craft shows and many billboards for various businesses. David attended Bream Presby., where he worked with the youth and coached basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Vivian Stone Brinkley. David is survived by his wife, Jan Brinkley; daughter, Lee Ann Martin; brother, Paul "Max" Brinkley and his wife Ellen; sister, Beverley "Cookie" Brown; granddaughters, Hannah and Emilee Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

A Service to Honor the Life of David will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, with Rev. Gary McGrew officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends may visit from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311, in memory of David L. Brinkley.
