She was born July 17, 1941, in Staunton, a daughter of the late William Lee and Geraldine (Woodell) Kincaid and stepmother, Myra G. Kincaid.
She was involved with Meals on Wheels of Staunton Inc. and helped out with Weekday Religious Education.
Mrs. Balsley was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church where she was an Active Elder, taught the Nursery Sunday School Class for many years and was also treasurer and secretary of the Olivet Presbyterian Women.
In addition to her husband, family members include a son, Mark Balsley of Swoope; a daughter and son-in-law, Leah and T.J. Dickens of Phoenix, Maryland; a daughter-in-law, Dania Balsley; her beloved mother-in-law, Marjorie Balsley; eight grandchildren, Brannon Balsley and wife, Heather, Bryce, Krissi, and Tyler Balsley and Caid, Bret, Mae, and Audrey Dickens; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Austin Balsley; a stepbrother, Rex Greaver of Staunton; two stepsisters, Doris Goode of Staunton and Linda Greaver of Christiansburg; a special cousin, Bonnie Ryder; special niece and nephew, Teresa Hodge and Frankie Hodge; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Brenda Reid.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory S. Balsley and a sister, Patsy Ann (Kincaid) Hodge.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Olivet Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lee Thomas. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Wenger, Wil Reid, Langdon Reid, D. Reid, Ray Leach, Mark Perry, Harry Hogshead, and John Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Reid, Don Reid, Jimmy Fortune, and the women of Olivet Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 in the Henry Funeral Home.
