Clara A. Schmidt, 95, Catherine, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, at her home. She was born April 9, 1889 at Catherine to Henry and Agnes (Leikam) Karlin.

She married Jacob J. Schmidt on June 2, 1908 at Catherine; he died March 4, 1976.

She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and Altar Society and the Christian Mothers, all of Catherine.

Survivors include four sons, Aloysius of the home, Lucius of Hays, James of Kansas City, Kan., Tony of Richardson, Tex.; eight daughters, Pia Schmidt of the home, Hilaria Corrigan and Agnes Zimmerman, both of Wichita, Regina Polifka and Sister Clara Ann Schmidt, both of Hays, Johanna Walters of Salina, Dolores Dreiling of Hamden, Conn., Roseann Malsam of WaKeeney; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine Church. Father Charles Polifka officiated; burial was in St. Catherine Cemetery. Brock's North Hill Chapel.
