Donald J. "Pop" Anderson
23 December 1922 ~ 30 December 2014

U.S. Veteran

GALENA, KANSAS: Rev. Donald J. Anderson took Jesus' hand Jan. (sic) 30, 2014 at 3:17, and walked into Heaven rejoicing.

His daughter, LaDonna "Dawn" Anderson Kuhler was by his side as he peacefully left this old world behind.

He was born to Otto and Pansy (Loy) Anderson in the little house he was raised in in Empire, December 23, 1922.

He had just turned 92, 7 days prior.

He married the love of his life, Violet Mae Rice, October 18, 1941, in Galena, KS. After her passing, January 27, 2008, he rarely started his day without going to the cemetery. He missed only due to weather or sickness and that usually didn't stop him.

He was known to many as "Pop" as he worked for Anderson Glass doing rock chip repairs to perfection and witnessing to others about Christ. Pop pastored Assembly of God churches for over 52 years but he never stopped preaching.

Pops graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1940.

He served in the Navy during WWII and always loved his country. He was a proud soldier.

He worked in the mines; he worked for Humphrey Springs and was in auto parts sales while being a pioneer minister, saving many churches from closing their doors. Pop loved people. He also loved to play the guitar and sing. Pop was a servant of The Lord and that was his mission. He was proud to proclaim Jesus Christ wherever he went and whoever he met. Christ was always first in his family.

He is survived by three children, LaDonna (Dawn) Anderson-Kuhler and spouse, David Kuhler, Carl Junction, MO, Kevin Anderson, Duenweg, MO, and a second daughter, Keren Bryant and spouse, Rick, Seneca, MO; 5 grandchildren, Darrin Campbell, Jace Kuhler and spouse, Leslie, Kevin Anderson, Miranda Anderson and an adopted granddaughter, Tracy Good-Stojanik and spouse, Ray; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard, Kenneth and Gerald Anderson and two sisters, Marjorie Starchman and Twyla Simmons.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Christ Point Church, Galena, KS.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.

The family will receive friends form 6:00 -8:00 pm, Friday, January 2, 2015 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
