Anderson was the son of William Thomas (Will) and Elizabeth Marie (Betty) Cobbler Warden. He married Dollie Lee Hunt on the 25th day of December 1902 in Raleigh County, West Virginia. Anderson and Dollie were first cousins, once removed through their Warden lineage. Dollie's maternal grandmother was Sarah Frances Warden, who was the sister of Anderson's father, William Thomas (Will) Warden.
