Lawrence Leroy King
Died January 16, 1995
MESICK-Laawrence Leroy King, 66, of Mesick, died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac.
He was the owner/operator of the King Funeral Home in Mesick. He was a life member of the Mesick Lions Club, B.P.O.E. No. 680 in Cadillac, the Knights of Columbus in Cadillac and Amvets Post No. 120 in Mesick. He was also a member of the James E. Dillon Masonic Lodge NO. 402 in Mesick, the Rebekah Lodge No. 402 in Mesick, Order of the Eastern Star No. 197 in Mesick, Scottish Rite in Traverse City, International Order of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 56 in Mesick and St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Copemish, where he served as a eucharistic minister.
He was a 1947 graduate of Kingsford High School and a 1955 graduate of Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science. He served in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed golfing.
Born October 7, 1928, in Kingsford, he was the son of Henry and Aurora (Gamache) King. On August 26, 1950 in Detroit, he married the former Faith June Winters, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry (Ellen) King of Wichita, Kansas and Michael (Teresa) King of Riverton, Wyoming; three daughters, Cathie (Rodney) Coleman of Ann Arbor, Christine (Greg) Kratky of Honolulu, Hawaii and Michele King and her friend Reg, of Meisck; tow sisters, Bette Maddentte and Geraldine Vaness, both of Milwaukee, Wis; and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Byron and Gaberial.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday at St. Raphaels Catholic Church, Copemish. The Rev. John Ladd will officiate. Burial will be in Sherman-Mesick Cemetery.
