Margaret Bennett Postle “Monnie” died peacefully in her home on December 26, 2014.

She possessed a great capacity to love that comforted, encouraged and inspired all whom she knew. Blessed with a loving family and many close friendships, Monnie will be remembered for her grace, poise and uncompromising integrity. A gifted and natural leader, she was selfless and seemed to always bring out the best in people. Her legacy will continue through the good works of those she so positively touched.

Monnie was born September 9, 1926, the elder child of Lois Moore Bennett and Hugh Monnett Bennett. Preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Dr. Harry Herbert Postle; her sister-in-law, Patricia Postle and nephew Jack Postle, Jr., she was a role model to an admiring family and instrumental in building the close and loving bonds it enjoys to this day.

She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Henry (George), Katherine Hayes (Alasdair), Dr. H. Herbert Postle; sister, Elizabeth Bennett Hamilton (Robert); brother-in-law, Dr. Jack R. Postle; seven grandchildren, Dean Henry (Suzanne), Dianne Henry Glass (Christopher), Sarah Henry, Elizabeth Hayes, Reid Postle, Abagail Postle, Anne Postle, and their mother Nancy; five great grandchildren, Caroline, Audrey and Ellen Henry, Devin and Morgan Glass; four nieces and nephews; Matthew and Ann Hamilton, Jeffrey and Linda Postle and their families.

A lifelong resident of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Monnie graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1944 where she was editor of the school newspaper. Three years later, she graduated with honors from The Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority in which she remained active throughout her life.

Monnie was dedicated to her community and highly engaged in causes she felt would have a positive impact on future generations. She was elected to the Upper Arlington Board of Education in 1964-72, serving as president 1969-71. In addition, she was an active leader in Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Junior League of Columbus, Columbus Museum of Art Docent Program and several other community organizations. She was named Upper Arlington Rotary Woman of the Year and received the Upper Arlington Civic Association Big Wheel Award. Monnie was a woman of faith and long-time member of First Community Church.

Her life will be celebrated at a service of memory on Thursday, January 8, 2015, 4:00 p.m. at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Boulevard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
