A resident of Baton Rouge for 22 years, he died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 72 and a native of Shreveport. Memorial services at Congregation B'nai Israel at 10 a.m. Sunday. Survived by wife, Betty Wolbrette Akchin; three sons, Don, Brian and Mark; a daughter, Debi Graham; a sister, Dora Back; and seven grandchildren. He was a former Mason, Elk, Odd Fellow and Kiwanian and active in volunteer services for Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Baton RougeSymphony, public radio and Ochsner 65. He was an active member of Congregation B'nai Israel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., Congregation B'nai Israel or Jewish Children's Regional Service, New Orleans.
